Deluxe Moon HD Pro is the most in-depth weather app I’ve ever seen and it’s all centered around the Moon. This app is bursting at the seams with real-time information about the moon.
After launching the app I was immediately impressed by the user interface. A beautiful background with the moon is shown as you would see it in real time. Today it’s in Waxing crescent stage at 7.6% and I also see a shooting star pass by every now and again. It displays time of the setting, zenith and rising of both the Moon and the Sun. If you have an internet signal, you will see your elevation, declination and right ascenscion. Also displayed are the Azimuth, Moonrise Azimuth, Moonset Azimuth, age, distance, ecliptic latitude and longitude. Both Tropical and Sidereal Zodiacs are displayed below the moon and next to it are the current time down to the second. If you turn the sound on you are greeted by classical piano fitting to accompany the stars.
You can side out a calendar to check future/past dates from any year and all the information will change accordingly. Just press Return to current date and time.
Overall this is an amazing map and wish I’d had it when I took Astronomy back in college. If you’re a stargazer I’d highly recommend this app to you and it’s currently on sale. There is also a iPhone counterpart at http://bit.ly/zM0vtQ
Picture Hangman is a nice twist to the age-old classic Hangman. In this version of the game, you have to guess which selections belong in the picture. Will you piece together the picture before you get hung?
The game is pretty simple, you stat off with one piece of the picture already on the chalkboard. You have to scroll through the different pieces and either double-tap or tap and slide a selection towards the chalkboard. If you chose correctly, then the piece will draw be added to the board. At the top is display the total of pieces to beat the level. You have a total of five wrong guesses before the game is over.
There are over 100 levels and three different difficulty settings to choose from. Even at medium setting, I wasn’t doing that great, but I was still having fun. In addition, there are another 50 levels you can buy via in-app purchase if you want more of a good thing.
Overall this is a great game and I highly recommend it.
Pizza vs. Skeletons is a action platform game. This isn’t your typical platformer, instead of a little guy taking on same-size enemies it’s a giant-size pizza taking on enemies that are less than half his size. There are a plethora of different types of levels in this game.
Your basic movements are tilt-based and then you can jump. A jumping pizza, who’d have thunk it? Also if you land on an enemy you can jump again to perform a kind of double jump. Some of the levels are simple as you just have to roll over and jump on skeletons, then there are some levels where you have to balance on a giant skull that rolls while it traverses a sea of spikes. There’s even a level where you’re a slice of pizza in a sea of skeleton fish, as you eat the different size of fish you become bigger and eat bigger fish and so on.
After every level you’ll get to spin a wheel and win money. The money you earn in a level and by spinning you can use to buy stuff to customize your pizza with. It’s not limited to toppings on a pizza, things like a mustache, silly eyes, a top hat and more.
Overall this is a great game and I definitely recommend it to any fan of platformers or arcade games as it’s one of the most original platformers I’ve seen on the App Store.
Monopoly Hotels is a free-to-play time management game. You’ll build guest rooms, VIP rooms, shops, decorations and more. I think the game could be best describe as Farmville meets Monopoly.
There are aspects of the game that will remind of that board game you always loved like the Electric Company which you have to constantly pour money into to keep the lights on. In addition getting rent from rooms you build in the hotels, money will fall from the sky, you have to tap on the money to add it to your bank. Every now and again a big piece of paper will fall from the sky and if you tap on that you will get a community chest card. This will give you a chance to roll the dice and get 10 times the face value you’ll get in cash unless you get snake eyes which you will get gold for. Also the hotels you buy are straight from the game board and you start off with Mediterranean.
This is a free to play game so you’ll be nudged towards buy gold. It’s not necessary but definitely makes the game go faster and also has some fun additions. With gold there are unlockable VIP rooms like rooms themed from Mr. Potato Head and Littlest Pet Shop (Pandas, Dogs, Bunnies, Cats and more).
Overall this is a fun game but it’s not what you’d expect when seeing the name Monopoly in a game. There’s nothing extraordinary about this game, but it’s worth a download if you like these sort of games.
League of Evil 2 is a side-scrolling action platform game that has a great retro-style to it. Quick sprints, wall jumps, double jumps and attacks rule LOE2 and if you’re a fan of platformers then you’ll feel right at home.
The controls are very simple. You have a left and right arrow to move. The A button attacks while the B button jumps. You can wall jump by jumping towards the wall and once you start sliding down it, pressing the jump button again once you start sliding down the wall. Also if you jump and then in mid-air jump again you will double jump. Your attack doubles as a quick sprint if you need to move a little faster on a level.
There are five worlds and over 100 levels to play through. These levels are the kind you will need to memorize to conquer and get the best time with. Each level you can obtain 3 stars based on a maximum time, also there is a briefcase to find in each level. These two challenges don’t have to be done on the same run, but you get rewarded with a “Perfect Run” if you do manage to pull it off.
Overall League of Evil 2 is highly addictive and has tons of replay value. It’s games like this that give mobile gaming a good name. Definitely check it out today while it’s on sale.
AniEmoticons is an app that allows you insert animated emoticons within your MMS text messages or e-mails.
Using AniEmoticons with MMS only allows you to send one aniemoticon per message. First you select your category of aniemoticon then select which ever one you fancy the most for your message. Once iMessage loads (or whatever MMS client you use), click paste and your aniemoticon will appear.
The e-mail portion of AniEmitons give you much more flexibility as you can place as many aniemoticons into your e-mail as you want. I inserted thirty into one e-mail but I didn’t think anyone would ever need more than that in an e-mail.
There are approximately 3,000 different aniemoticons to choose from so you’ll definitely one or more that will help emphasize one or more points in the messages contained in your e-mail. The categories go from “3D Smiley” to “Bear and Panda” to “Cat and Dog” to “Romance” to “Words”.
Overall this is a great app that will definitely add emphasis to any message. Make sure and pick it up while it’s 50 % off.
Egg Punch is an arcade style game that combines miniature golf and pinball. There are nine holes available for each of the six worlds for a total of fifty-four holes.
Based on your score each level you will be awarded coins. You can use these coins to buy new skins for your egg, buy one of three permanent power-ups or unlock worlds. Make sure and gather as many feathers as possible too because those also figure into helping you unlock worlds.
The control scheme is easy-to-use and familiar. Just tap and drag outside of the egg to look around and tap and drag away from the egg to aim. Once you let go of the egg your egg will roll like a golf ball. Be careful of bunnies with helmets, if you hit them, they will bounce your egg back like a pinball. This is also a great way to get a better score.
Overall this is a fun and charming game and I highly recommend it to all ages.
Valentine Wishes is an app that has four mini-games included in it. You’re reward for getting benchmark scores is unlocking Valentine’s Day cards that you can send via e-mail.
“Shoot It” is a tilt-based movement game that has you aim the reticle at balloons carrying Valentine’s presents. Once you have a balloon in your sights you just press fire and score. You get six shots before you have to press to reload. You can chain your balloon shots to get up to 500 points a pop. If you let three balloons get away the game is over.
“Catch It” is also a tilt-based movement game that has you guide a cloud left to right to catch hearts dropped by little cupids. You can also chain these hearts to get a max of 500 points a heart. If you let three hearts fall past you, the game is over.
“Tap It” pits two players against each other, but they have to be on the same device. The player that taps all their color’s bears wins the game.
“Stop It” is basically the same as “Catch It” but instead of catching the hearts with a cloud, you tap the hearts with you finger. You can also chain these hearts up to 500 points a piece.
With the exception of “Tap It,” all of the games unlock different Valentine’s Day cards for a total of twenty-three cards. Once unlocked you can view them and send to that special someone via e-mail.
Overall this is a charming little app and is fun to play. It’s never too late to send a Valentine’s Day card. Download it today.
PIN Locker is a utility app that allows you store passwords and other information. It’s what you’d expect with this type of app and it does its main function well. There is an added bonus, most of these database apps only have a field for one password, but this one has a place for a second password. This is important because there is a trend of websites starting to use this feature to beef up security and you may see even more sites add this in the future.
When you launch the app you’ll be asked to input a password and confirm in. This will be your login for the app so make sure and put it somewhere safe because if you lose it, you can’t get into the app anymore. For this reason, it’s a good idea to use the backup to e-mail function in the app every once in a while.
When entering a record, there are fields for entry name, login (username), password, URL, note, category and second password. You can make your own category if you want to customize things for yourself.
Overall this is a very simple and easy-to-use app and does it’s function well. I can recommend it for remember your many security needs.
Angel Jump is a endless jumping game set in portrait display. You play an angel ascending to the heavens one jump at a time.
You jump from cloud to cloud avoiding lightning clouds and flying eyes which kill you instantly. Along the way you’ll get power-ups like wings which make you fly for a time and a sword which will multiply your score for a few seconds. Also there are spring platforms that give you a super jump.
This is a pretty mediocre jumping game in a sea of jumping games. I’m not saying it’s a bad game, it’s actually fun. But to say a game is good when it’s basically the same as 1000 other iOS games, it has to bring something fresh to the table and this game just doesn’t accomplish that.
Overall this is definitely worth a download as it’s free and is fun, just don’t expect it to be anything more than that.
Running Fred is more or less of a sequel to Falling Fred. This time instead of Fred falling endlessly, he’s running. Running Fred is a third-person running game.
This is a tilt based movement game, you’ll want to tilt left-to-right to gather coins. Coins allow you unlock new skills like double jump, wall grip, wall bounce, magnet, life slot and chicken flap. You’ll use these to traverse the different levels. Also these coins unlock different levels and Avatar skins.
There are two game modes available. The adventure mode is a level-based game mode. Survival mode goes on as long as you don’t die.
At time of publishing there are currently only two worlds available in Adventure mode, each one containing ten levels. Another one is coming Soon. In Survival mode there is only one world available, with two more coming soon.
This game reminded me a lot of playing as Mario. It feels like an homage to everyone’s favorite Princess saving plumber. This is easily the best running game I’ve played on the iOS so far. I’d love to see this developer make a 3d platform game.
Overall this is a great game and is definitely worth picking up.
Ski-On-Neon is an arcade game in the style of Tiny Wings. In the game you’re a skier taking to the neon slopes.
The gameplay is very simple, just tap and hold the screen to make you skiier descend faster and you want to let at the apex of the hill so that you get good air, and then you have to time it right to land on a downward slope and keep your momentum going.
There are six different game modes, each one offering a nice variety in gameplay so it will keep you occupied for a good time.
Overall this is a good game and worth your time. I’d recommend checking it out.
